The Obliterator (final)
This is a new build that I am currently testing thought UW, FOW, SF, as well as TPK. As the name implies the goal of this build is to cause massive death and destruction to all enemies around you. As an Elementalist I am well aware of how echo nukers are going out of style and people are looking for a new, more powerful and reliable source of power to stack up along with the minion masters, tanks, and 55 monks.
To be honest I stumbled upon this build by accident by caping the wrong skill for the original lay out. In my original plans I still wanted to find a way to dish out three of any spell (preferably meteor shower) and I thought Arcane Echo followed by Glyph of Renewal to cast it again would work just fine. Looking back on it I figure it would not be as effective because Arcane Echo is on a time limit and if you do not cast again fast enough then you loose the spell while your casting (which is always a pain).
What happened instead was I decided to cap Echo (elite) and by pure accident I made up a build that can dish out three meteor showers at over 112damage each.
The spell listing is as follows:
Flare/ free space - I use flare because I like having a cheap spell that dishes above forty damage at a time over long periods and use it while meteor shower and the two echo's are cooling down. In all reality I listed free space because it’s up to the maker on what fits their best style.
***Flare is also good to have with Aura of Restoration if you want a constant supply of health***
Fire Ball - who doesn't like this spell? Relatively cheap and massive damage to everyone in the splash damage radius. Definitely a good thing to cast after one of the meteor showers to rack up the damage
Fire Attunement - now keep in mind this is a MUST HAVE!!! In total without this you go through about 95 (25x3+15+5=95) energy with three meteor showers, arcane echo, and echo in order. Not to mention exhaustion. So unless you have some friend/slave that his purpose in life is to be your battery, I highly recommend you taking this spell.
Glyph of Elemental Power (GEP) - this one seems to be the most over looked but most valuable things you could ever use in combination with your spells. The +2 elemental bonuses to the next spell you use is an amazing deal considering the energy cost and cool down time.
-Strategy- what I have found very, very, effective is to use this move and follow it up with Fire Attunement. If you have above a 13 or higher in fire and use this then the duration of the spell will be longer then the cool down time (60 seconds). Thus you may constantly have this spell going for hardly any energy.
Meteor Shower - Need I say more?
Arcane Echo - The kiddy version of Echo. This is also the main spell used by echo nukers to get the job done. I've used this spell almost as long as I’ve been playing over the past 7-8 months and it’s worked great. Just throw this up before you cast a spell, and then cast the spell. Ta Da you have two of them.
Echo (elite) - this spell is like Arcane on steroids. With a third the energy cost, half the cast time, this is great for dishing out the big ones fast and efficiently.
Res - If you don't know what this is then you've only just bought the game or you are a complete and utter moron. Why you might bring it is simple, while you’re in the back playing God with this build.... you tend to live longer then those in front of you and I’ve been in many situations where I was the last person left on my team.
How it works:
Now that you have the skill listing I’m sure you have a pretty good idea how this is going to go.
Step 1) Use GEP followed up by Fire attunement in order to keep up your energy and to have something that, if an angry Mesmer targets you, you can lose instead of either echo.
Step 2) Use Arcane echo because of its great energy cost and cast time. This is good get over with before the fighting gets ugly and you need a faster casting spell before your interrupted by a ranger.
Step 3) Meteor shower whomever you like. Once you cast this spell you should have a copy of it where Arcane Echo was. If you still have Fire attunement (which is a more then likely thing as I have found) then you should get 7-8 energy back after you cast the first Meter Shower
Step 4) use echo directly after you get the first copy. Then cast meteor shower a second time using its copied form. Here is something apparently no on ever tried before. Echo copies the Meteor Shower NOT Arcane Echo. The reason for this is because when you use Arcane Echo or Echo it actually turns in to that spell for 20 seconds.
***this being said, this triple cast build works with any spell***
Step) After casting the copy version of Meteor shower and gaining yet another copy of argument ably the best AoE spell in the game, throw up another GEP to and an extra punch on the end. With the +2 elemental bonuses to your fire, you're now hopefully casting level 12.With this bonus I cast at level 15 and do 112 damage.
Review:
Spell Casting Order-
1) GEP
2) Fire Attunement
3) Arcana Echo
4) Meteor. Shower
5) Echo (elite)
6) Copy 1 of Meteor Shower (Where Arcane Echo once was)
7) GEP
8) Copy 2 of Meteor Shower (Where Echo once was)
Possible Changes:
This is where you guys come in. As I said before, this build is still being tested and all the bugs are still being worked out. You may be looking at the list and saying "Hm, couldn't you throw some more GEP in to that list some where to get a constant +2 bonus?" and the answer is "Why yes, yes you can." the one problem with that is because GEP is not fire then you no longer the 30% energy back upon casting. If you like burning through your storage of energy fast and have nothing left to fight with afterwards then go for it. I don't do it because I prefer to have some energy left incase someone made a stupid move (we've all been in those groups where your partner is a moron, admit it).
Contacts:
In case you had any more questions for me about this new build or suddenly had an enlighten moment where you realize some major mistake that I’ve made in creating this, PLEASE let me know, you can either leave a post on hear or contact me on Guild Wars by my user name Nights Death.
The other post made earlier was not the final one did not mean to hit enter when I did. So.... yeah, sorry about that, this one is the Final Beta for The Obliterator.

This is pretty much a bog standard echo nuker build, with the exception of the GoEP. If you really want to go this route, I suggest using Glyph of Renewal which will reduce Meteor Shower's recharge to 15sec. Otherwise not much to say, echo nuking is overrated IMO and you'd be better packing some more energy management and chaining Rodgort's Invocation + Meteor Shower + Fireball + Incendiary Bonds instead of just copying meteor.

If you depend on spells with 5-second casting times, and you're a /Me anyway, Mantra of Concentration/Resolve might look appealing.

Errr.. yea.... echoing arc echo is a pretty standard tactic... its just mostly too energy draining and the triple exhaustion kills you, so I believe thats why most Elementalists don't use it. Plus, you could have the Elemental Attunement elite instead to give you even more energy back from your showers.

Actually, it's pretty unlikely somebody would ever find a reason to Echo Arcane Echo, when Arcane Echoing Echo accomplishes the same thing for 10 points less of energy.
Anyhow, both Echo and the superior Glyph of Renewal are elites, so you can't use Elemental Attunement along with them. Unless, of course, you're partnering with another elementalists and bring Arcane Mimicry ...

I see what you guys are saying and it makes sense. from my experiences though, the exaustion is not as bad as it seems, any earth ele usually has a lot more. Keep in mind that this build is support. When i was using it in SF i was destoryed when i was in the front, but as long as your in the back, you deal a lot of damage and can clear a room with a pretty good amount of speed. There are a number of flaws to the build, trust me i know, i didn't get around to posting those because of time problems. Anyway, i still have found this build works great in areas like FOW and UW. I was with a 5 man team in Fow (me, a nuker, tank, ss/sv, and a prot monk) and we got farther then i usually do with an 8 person group (probably because my groups were all retarded). Oh well, i still say to give it a try and see what you think before you jump to a lot of conclusions.

I thought that echo'ing your previously echo'd spell was old news, but the energy/exhaustion intensive nature of it is the reason why no one runs it...

Glyph is superior? For this build I agree, but in general I do not. Yeah, recharge kills you with echo, but you can get more skills off in a shorter period of time if the recharges are low (less than 10) and you can echo anything including your res if you need it.
So...superior always? No. Superior in this build? Yes
Another thing to try with your Echo'd copies is to use Glyph of Sacrifice on one of them. The extra recharge doesn't hurt you because it is a copy and is gone in 20 seconds anyway. I would say that 2 MS in ~6 seconds is better than 3 in ~17 seconds.

I am still convinced that Ebond is the best (overall) energy management for pve.
(excludes bonders and 55's and the fact that Bspirit is better if you are the tank-hence overall)

Who the hell is going to do this? That was an awesome build... 6 months ago. Before the aoe thing happened... sure you might hit a couple guys, then the rest scramble about, making your warriors chase them, and your rangers miss them... Great job. Way to look out for the team. Unless you plan on having your mates bring cripple, or water hexes, aoe's like this are worthless. We all moved on months ago, after the aoe nerf, you should do the same.

That will take 125e to execute. That is just not speed, since you have to wait for regen (either that or you're gonna have a hard time keeping your Energy levels manageable, which I don't think you are aiming for). Also, Echoed MS scatters mobs.
No, the build just lacks flexibility. Maybe if you have the perfect case scenario it just MIGHT be better than a SS Necro, but otherwise...no. Just no. Especially since the higher level mobs have quite a high AL.

This has been tested and it works as GuildWiki says it does, unless something changed during this week.
So before posting aggressively, at least get your facts straight.
Edited for the OP:
As long as you don't Echo Meteor Shower, your targets are not going to run away. If you do though, they will be hit with more frequency and may scatter, but that is not enough reason not to make such a build, just use Glyph of Renewal and you will hit every 20 seconds (15 from GoR recharge+5 from casting MS). Between hits, you can cast Glyph of Lesser Energy+Rodgort's Invocation/Fireball. This is what i use:
Fire Attunement
Fireball
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Rodgort's Invocation
Glyph of Renewal {€}
Meteor Shower
Essence Bond
Rebirth (as a last party resort)

I think he was talking about if you doubled MS. If you double MS, then yes, they will scatter. MS by itself does not.
